The San Antonio Black International Film Festival (SABIFF) 2025 presents the Filmmaker Awards & Ubuntu Community Awards Gala, honoring Films-In-Competition winners and outstanding Texas-based community innovators making an impact social change through the power of in art, law, politics, activism, and spirituality. The evening includes a full program of awards, a 3-course dinner, live jazz fusion, and DJ entertainment.

Congresswoman JasmineCrockett, Esq.
Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett has purposefully made every decision with one goal in mind: protecting the civil liberties of those in underrepresented communities. As a public defender, civil rights attorney, State Representative, and United States Congresswoman, Jasmine Crockett dedicates her life to public service, with the goal of serving justice and ensuring equality for all. In the midst of political turmoil, economic distress, and racial inequality, Congresswoman Crockett laced up her shoes to march for justice and run for the Texas House of Representatives.

Deborah Omowale Jarmon
Chief Executive OfficerSAN ANTONIO AFRICAN AMERICAN ARCHIVES & COMMUNITY MUSEUM (SAAACAM)A retired civil servant with a 27-year career in the world of air traffic control, Deborah relocated to San Antonio to be a "close-by" grandmother, teaching them the importance of their legacy. Opening a bed and breakfast in the King William area of San Antonio, named for the family matriarch, “Eva’s Escape at the Gardenia Inn” immersed her family in Deborah’s personal mission of love and service for family and community.
🌟 Ubuntu Community Award Honoree:
Graciela Sanchez
Graciela follows in the footsteps of her mother and abuelitas, strong neighborhood women of color, cultural workers, and activists of San Antonio. As director of the Esperanza Peace and Justice Center, a community-based cultural arts/social justice organization, Graciela works with staff and community to develop programs that culturally ground working-class and poor people of color, queer people and women, and individuals who are survivors of cultural genocide.
🌟 Ubuntu Communiity Award Honoree:
Donte 'PD' Banks
Pastor Donte Banks is the Lead Pastor of GodChasers Community Church in San Antonio, Texas. He is also an author, speaker, and community activist. He is known for his ability to teach the Word of God with clarity and conviction, blending humor, humility, and spiritual insight. He is also recognized for his work in mentorship and community development.
