Please note: If you have not tried quilling before, we are happy to have you! Please arrive 45 minutes early (2:15pm) to the Center for Creative Reuse for a pre-workshop session where we will acquaint you with the how-to of quilling for beginners. All other attendees with previous quilling experience should arrive at the regular workshop start time.
All supplies will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring any Quilling tools they have.

Tickets must be purchased online at least 12 hours before the workshop. No walk-ins. Space is limited. Tickets are non refundable so please plan accordingly before purchasing. Please have email confirmation / ticket readily available upon arrival. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Attendees may bring non messy snacks and drinks in sealable containers. Please note that photographs will be taken throughout this workshop. These may be used by Spare Parts for marketing and publicity in our publications, on our website and in social media or in any third party publication. Session 1: Mitigating urban heat at homeNancy Parrilla and Patricia Santos of Fuerza Unida will share how “Fuerza Unida Urban Heat Resiliency Program” is bringing down the heat in homes near them with trees, water reuse and conservation and more.
Session 2: Moczygemba Rewild Ranch: OUR JOURNEY Restoration, Conservation, HopeBrice Moczygemba will share his family journey since he retired as an engineer to manage a 50-acre parcel of the family property with conservation and habitat restoration to restore it as a thriving prairie ecosystem without using irrigation even during drought.

In partnership with the World Heritage Office, San Antonio UNESCO Chef Ambassador Stephannie Beyers will present a cooking demonstration highlighting a variety of tamal-making techniques and ingredients.While adults and teens enjoy the demonstration, children ages 5 and up are invited to participate in a story time, craft, and play session led by the children’s librarian.
Following the program, attendees are welcome to stay and enjoy complimentary tamales prepared by Chef Stephannie, along with complimentary pan dulce.
This is a ticketed event. Tickets will be distributed 30 minutes before the program at circulation desk.

Get creative with a historic twist! In this hands-on program, visitors can build their own mini adobe “gingerbread” house using our adobe bricks, then decorate it with festive flair. Learn about traditional adobe construction while having fun crafting your own adobe creation.
Decorations provided; just bring your imagination and creativity! This event is free with regular admission.($1-$5) Advance registration is NOT required.
