Minority Veterans of America (MVA) and The Chamberlain Network (TCN) are headed to San Antonio on the Our Stories, Our Truth: A National Tour Honoring the Legacy of Us tour. This storytelling tour invites the public into deeper connection with underrepresented veterans through their lived experiences. This event centers the stories of Hispanic and Latinx Veterans.

Our Stories, Our Truth is a six-month, multi-city journey across the United States. At each stop, minority veterans — those too often erased from dominant narratives — will share their stories of service, identity, and community. Programs feature a mix of local voices and national speakers, and stories shared at each stop are captured on video for distribution to communities nationwide.

The tour is taking place amid a moment of increasing national division and harmful narratives about identity, patriotism, and who belongs. MVA and TCN designed Our Stories, Our Truth to offer something different: a chance for communities to understand one another not through debates or headlines, but through the power of human story.

The Real Life 5K/10K is a FREE community run hosted by Real Life Community Outreach - a non-profit serving the Northeast San Antonio area. Whether you’re racing for a personal best, strolling with friends, or bringing the whole family, this event is perfect for everyone — from serious runners to walkers looking for a fun evening out!

Run or walk the same course once traversed by racehorses at Retama — a one-of-a-kind track experience you won’t forget!

The Saul Vara Foundation is a Non Profit organization that for more than 15 years has provided scholarships and grants to students in the Border Town of Zaragoza, Coahuila. The foundation provides supplies, building materials, diapers, food supplies and everything that can get a hold of from donations to help this very poor border town.

In 15 years the foundation has been able to pay for school room and board for close to 100 students. Among which some started being supported since elementary and currently 40 students have graduated and now hold prominent professional jobs, such as nurses, teachers, engineers. As an example a me mechatronic engineer works for General Motors and is building the first 100 % electric vehicle in Mexico. We rely on this gala and donors to support our mission. This event is the most colorful fundraising celebration of the Mexican Independence with a purpose.

Each year, San Antonio Junior Forum distributes grants to nonprofits in the San Antonio region for specific projects that benefit economically, and/or physically disadvantaged individuals. In 2025-2026, we distributed $75,000 to 15 nonprofits in our community!

We are pleased to announce that we will again be accepting applications for grants of $20,000 or less. Grant applications may be submitted by organizations recognized as tax exempt under internal revenue code 501(c)(3). Now is the time to get started! Grant applications are due November 1, 2026.

The community is invited to come together with the Rape Crisis Center (RCC SATX) Tuesday, September 15 for our “Light the Path to Healing: Carrying the Light Forward” event at The San Antonio Botanical Gardens Betty Kelso Center. The evening will raise funds for the only rape crisis center serving the city of San Antonio and Bexar County. Every dollar raised supports free counseling, victim advocacy, prevention education, case management, a 24/7 crisis line as well as community prevention education that stops violence before it starts.

The evening will feature a cocktail hour, hors d’oeuvres, silent auction, live entertainment, and honor survivors through an evening of storytelling and inspiring performances. Andrea "Vocab" Sanderson, along with Rob Cockfield, III and Zach Jewell, will deliver a powerful performance of survivor resilience, while special guest speaker, survivor, advocate, social worker, and retired law enforcement officer Gilbert Perez delivers special remarks. The evening will also feature emcee Rick Gipprich, Jr., and a live art rendering by local artist Albert Gonzales.

Bandera County Preparedness Event to Feature Rain Barrel Fundraiser and Health & Wellness Exhibits

PIPE CREEK, Texas — Guilds of Requiem will host the Bandera County Preparedness Event on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at 8124 State Hwy 16 S in Pipe Creek. This free, community-focused event is designed to equip local residents with essential emergency planning skills, sustainability knowledge, and wellness resources.

Key highlights of the event include:

Rain Barrel Fundraiser: Attendees can support local community initiatives while learning effective rainwater harvesting techniques and purchasing their rain barrel for their own systems.

Educational Presentations: Expert speakers will host sessions throughout the day covering emergency preparedness, local conservation strategies, and practical self-reliance skills.

Health & Wellness Area: Interactive booths and live demonstrations will offer resources focused on community safety, personal health, and preventative well-being.

Join us on Friday, September 25th, for our annual Small Scale Big Impact art auction and celebration!

The exhibition and month-long silent auction features the region’s most esteemed artists with unique artworks – all up for auction in support of SAY Sí’s tuition-free creative youth-development programs. Each artist’s small-scale donation has the potential to make a BIG impact for SAY Sí, as Small Scale continues to be the organization’s single largest money-raising campaign.

Tickets can be purchased online leading up to the event, or at-the-door.

Join us in a safe space where families impacted by the criminal justice system come together to learn, grow, share, pray, and get resources and support. The theme will be “Navigating Crisis and Recovery: Addressing Mental Health Challenges Among Families, Justice-Involved Individuals, and Vulnerable Populations.” We will discuss complicated issues related to loved one’s metal health, what to do in crisis, and family problem resolution.
