“Puro Conjunto: Border(less) Sound” celebrates how this uniquely Texan genre continues to thrive in San Antonio, the region, and beyond. The exhibit will highlight the people, places, and traditions at the heart of conjunto. Museum visitors will see conjunto pioneer Bruno Villarreal’s accordion, along with artifacts central to the genre—some of which will be on display for the first time--along with loans from the community and other organizations. Additionally, visitors are invited to get hands-on with a selection of musical instruments at an interactive station on the exhibit floor.

Selena Forever | Siempre Selena is a photographic exhibition featuring images by Texas photographer John Dyer, capturing Selena at a pivotal moment in her rise to stardom.
On View: June 4, 2026 – January 4, 2027

This exhibition features intimate and striking photographs captured during Selena’s rise to international stardom in the early 1990s. The exhibition offers an intimate look at an artist whose talent, charisma and determination transformed Tejano music and helped redefine representation for Mexican American women in popular culture. The featured images have never been displayed together, giving new context to Dyer’s work with Selena.

More than a music icon, Selena was a groundbreaking Tejana whose story reflected the spirit of the American West itself: bold, resilient, entrepreneurial and deeply connected to culture and community. Like generations of Tejanos who helped shape Texas through perseverance, innovation and cultural pride, Selena forged her own path while carrying the traditions of her community forward. Her legacy continues to inspire new generations, embodying the pioneering spirit, creativity and determination that remain central to the story of the West.

“Selena’s story is deeply connected to the cultural pride and artistic expression that define Tejano identity,” said Jackson. “Her influence transcends music and continues to inspire audiences across generations, making her an important part of this broader cultural conversation. The exhibition shares an icon who demonstrates the lasting influence of Tejanos – and Tejanas – in Texas and beyond.

Artpace’s Fall 2026 exhibitions feature artists Irene Antonia Diane Reece (Houston, TX), Roksana Pirouzmand (Los Angeles, CA), and Chavis Mármol (Mexico City, Mexico), guest-curated by Rigoberto Luna.

Curated by Rigoberto Luna, the three exhibitions open onto three distinct worlds: one where spectacle turns symbols of power into play, one where our lives and actions extend beyond ourselves and become intertwined with those of others, and one where the archive is met not as history but as something living and present.

This year the National Museum of the Pacific War will be honoring our fallen from World War II on the Memorial Courtyard. You can help us honor these brave soldiers by purchasing one or more wreaths to lay at their memorials on December 19th. The wreaths are beautiful live wreaths with a red bow and are only $17 per wreath, of that $5.00 is donated to the National Museum of the Pacific War to help us continue our mission of keeping their history alive.

Esperanza Rising, written by Alvaro Saar Rios and directed by AnaLisa Leos, is adapted from Pam Muñoz Ryan's beloved novel.

The story follows Esperanza, the pampered daughter of a wealthy Mexican landowner, whose life changes suddenly when she is forced to leave everything behind and start over as a migrant farmworker in the United States during the Great Depression.

Through Esperanza's journey, the production explores family, resilience, identity, belonging, and finding hope in the face of profound change.

Teatro Audaz presents Esperanza Rising December 16–22, 2026, with special performances including Education Night, Opening Night Reception, Teatro Pa' Todos, ASL Night, and a Sunday matinee.

Vast and colorful artistry, unwavering zeal

An experience that can only be described as a “melting pot of music”, Isaiah Cosey and The Sound Mind will take you on a journey into sound. With fresh nu-jazzy takes on popular songs and a mix of brand-new tracks, The Sound Mind astounds as a collective of some of San Antonio’s finest musicians and singers.

The band’s creator, Isaiah Cosey, traces his musical influences back to everything from jazz and rock to soul and everything in-between and he has contributed his talents to countless local projects, including Chavela, JamailMusic, The Palm Trees, Batooter, Any Color You Like, and Daniel Miller & the Red Roses.

With over 25 years of performing experience and nearly a decade of instructing music, Cosey is fresh off his debut as Music Director for San Pedro Playhouse’s production of Dreamgirls. He also recently sat in to play with Tito Puente Jr. and his Latin Jazz Ensemble at Jazz TX.

The Texas Exes Fredericksburg Chapter is offering multiple scholarships for graduating seniors from Gillespie County high schools who plan to enroll at The University of Texas Austin (UT) in Fall 2027. To be considered for Texas Exes Scholarships students must
1) submit their admissions application to UT Austin via ApplyTexas or the Common App.
2) access the Texas Exes Scholarship Application at texasexes.academicworks.com

3) complete the Texas Exes Entering Freshman General Scholarship Application.

The application opened September 1, 2026 and the deadline to apply is March 1, 2027. When completing the application, students must enter their UT EID correctly; if the EID is entered incorrectly, the student will not be eligible for a scholarship from the Chapter.

A student’s Gillespie County high school zip code will automatically match them to the Texas Exes Fredericksburg Chapter’s scholarship pool. No additional forms or steps are required.

Scholarship recipients will receive a monetary award plus a one-year membership to the student chapter of Texas Exes.
