𝘚𝘦𝘭𝘧 is a group exhibition that reexamines video art at Artpace through the work of four alumni artists. Each artist investigates the complexities of identity through self-portraits, projections of the self, and the body as a means of self-representation. This exhibition explores both how individuals perceive themselves and how others might view them.

While each artist employs distinct strategies—whether through video performance, observation, reflection on physical change, or narrative experimentation—they are united in their examination of selfhood. Together, these works offer a multifaceted exploration of identity, inviting viewers to consider the many ways it is constructed, performed, and perceived.

Featured alumni artists include Alex Bag, Paul Pfieffer, Kang Seung Lee, and Anne Wallace.

Antithesis in Contemporary Collage is an exhibition emphasizing high contrasts in paper collage, bricolage, and assemblage. Collage is an inherently versatile creative method, often using old and new source materials, with the ability to posture surreal environments by interruptions of scales, figures, spaces, and perspectives. In this exhibition, more intense contrasts are highlighted to elicit something even further, in the way of opposites, or relative extremes– aesthetically, conceptually, and curatorially. Sixteen local, regional, and national artists present antithetical notions of nostalgia, identity, comfort, chaos, destruction, sociology, beauty, and nature.

The Boerne Book Festival will take place on the grounds of the Patrick Heath Public Library on Saturday, October 3, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Featured authors include John Bradshaw, Stephanie Elizondo Griest, Mari Mancusi, James Wade and more. Featured topics include Hill Country Baseball, Texas Folklore, Local and Regional Art, and an Elmer Kelton Centennial discussion. Participating organizations on the grounds of the book festival include The Writers' League of Texas, and the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.

The exhibition Exquisite Entropy: Photographs by Trish Simonite, 1972 – 2025 offers audiences the opportunity to enjoy exemplary works from multiple periods produced across Simonite’s celebrated career. Curator Paula Owen has chosen 125 works that present Simonite’s fascination with the paradoxes that historical narratives may carry forward information from the past into new contexts of meaning and that photographic images may inspire new contemplation far beyond the time and place of their creation. As a transnational artist, Simonite’s transformations of scenes and elements of natural and built environments from the English countryside, Greek islands, and Texas honky tonks.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by exploring the journey of Tango; from the roots of Argentine Tango to its evolution into the ballroom style known as American Tango.

In this engaging, beginner-friendly progressive experience, you’ll learn the history behind both styles while building foundational steps, posture, and connection, week by week. Discover how the movements of one influenced the other as you grow in confidence and skill.

No previous experience needed just curiosity and a willingness to move.

Link for registration (all dance classes) is on the 9/5/26 calendar listing. This is a progressive dance instruction series and attendance at all or most of the classes is preferred. Class dates are Saturdays, September 5, 12, 19 & 26 from 12-1 PM. Classes will take place in the foyer which is located in front of the auditorium inside Central Library.

This beginner-friendly workshop teaches you the basics of layout design, journaling techniques, and decorative elements. Just bring 3-6 printed photos and memorabilia (ticket stubs, notes, etc.). Basic supplies are provided but you’re also welcome to bring your own (stamps, stickers, washi tape, markers, etc.).

Join the San Antonio Public Library at our Latino Collection & Resource Center for the return of Besos & Books, our annual celebration of Latinx voices in romance for Hispanic Heritage Month.

This year, Besos & Books Vol. 2 shines a spotlight on Queer Latinx Romance, celebrating stories that center queer love, identity, community, and the many ways romance helps us see ourselves reflected on the page.

We're excited to welcome USA Today bestselling author Gabriella Gamez, whose Librarians in Love series has delighted readers with heartfelt, funny, and wonderfully messy romances featuring Mexican American and queer characters. Returning for a second year, Gabby continues to champion stories where everyone deserves their happily ever after.

Joining her is acclaimed author Jonny Garza Villa, whose award-winning novels including Fifteen Hundred Miles from the Sun, Ander & Santi Were Here, Canto Contigo, and their debut adult romance Futbolista, have earned recognition from the Stonewall Book Awards, the Pura Belpré Awards, and Kirkus Reviews for their authentic portrayals of queer Latinx love, family, and identity.

Following the discussion, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the authors during a book signing.

On this guided bird tour around the various habitats of Mitchell Lake Audubon Center, guests will see at least 30-50 different bird species with our expert guide. Travelling by both car and by foot to access as many areas as possible, this tour is best suited for the birder age 15+ as it can last up to four hours, though you may leave at any time. Tours are limited. Bring your binoculars, bottle for water, closed-toe shoes, long pants, and bug spray.
