H-E-B is recalling the Meal Simple brand of Red Lentil Dal Soup because some of the packages are mislabeled and contain different ingredients than indicated, including milk.

It’s an initiative led primarily by H-E-B called “Harvest from the Heart.” About 1.2 million pounds of food has been donated so far, with that 4 million pound goal expected around January.

The move comes as officials began notifying Texans that benefits from Supplemental Food Assistance and Nutrition Program, or SNAP, will be cut off in November if the government shutdown continues.

Roxanne Orsak started as a store management trainee in 1988, according to a company news release. A graduate of Texas A&M, Orsak is credited with developing the H-E-B Plus concept in 2004.

The opening will come about three weeks before the beginning of the fall semester.
