URBAN-15 is incredibly excited to announce Johnny Rivers a.k.a "Space Dragon" as the winner of this year's Mega Corazón Poetry Marathon! He will be presented with the “Gregg Barrios Precious Words Prize" on Tuesday, May 19 at 2pm CST. Watch the ceremony beginning Sunday, May 24 through Sunday, May 31 at urban15.org/live-stream.

Johnny will be accompanied by members of URBAN-15's board of directors, as well as the 2025 winner Joyous Windrider. He will recite a special piece of poetry during his award presentation.

A Mega Corazón first-timer, Johnny Rivers called his loyal friends, family, and fans to action for this year’s vote, receiving the most votes after an intense competition among 19 additional poets, including current and former poets laureate, former Mega Corazón winners, and poetry educators. His unique and powerful performance drew from his background of growing up as a queer youth from El Paso, Texas, utilizing an electric combination of humor, sorrow, and frustration to produce a stunning and theatrical performance. He capped his performance with a mournful rendition of “To Live in the Borderlands” by Gloria Anzaldúa.

Catch the Fun with River Rodeo!
A community-wide fishing challenge hosted by the San Antonio River Authority and San Antonio River Foundation in partnership with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Fin Addict Angler Foundation. The event invites anglers tolog their catches, compete on live leaderboards, win prizes, and support real fisheries science while enjoying outdoor river adventures.

River Rodeo combines outdoor recreation with citizen science by allowing anglers to log species, size, and general location data to support fisheries research and river management. WHAT: A captivating large-scale immersive art experience, Otherwild, will transform the San Antonio Botanical Garden this spring into a vibrant world where wonder takes root and the sky comes alive.

Debuting Saturday, March 7, the exhibition features colorful visionary installations by artist Patrick Shearn and his internationally renowned studio, Poetic Kinetics, which is recognized for large-scale public art that inspires awe, movement, and creative exploration.

Otherwild invites visitors to step into a whimsical, nature-inspired environment where art and landscape merge. The installation will unfold into two distinct parts:

● Flora Borealis - a custom Skynet installation of ultra-lightweight, kinetic elements that float with the breeze, contrasting the SABG’s natural landscape

● Enchanted Trees - a sculptural grove of ten imaginary species, each with its own personality, crafted from reflective, movement-responsive materials that interact with sunlight and wind.

The 26th Annual Festival of Flowers co-hosted by San Antonio Water System is a premiere gardening event. It showcases non profit organizations like the Bexar County Master Gardeners and Gardening Volunteers of South Texas, plus local plant clubs and societies including rose, bonsai, orchids, water garden, succulents, herbs and more. Many seminars and the Organic Roundtable continue throughout the day. There's even a large plant exchange, floral design competition, home grown vegetable contest and more. San Antonio's only Regenerative Farmers Market features local farmers, ranchers, bakers, and artisans. This week also features a thrift pop-up to benefit Nuevos Vecinos, a refillery that offers a plastic-free way to stock up on household cleaning products & hygiene products, and free mindfulness workshops including yoga, sound + meditation, & MELT.

The San Antonio Art League + Museum will open its 96th Annual Juried Art Exhibition on Sunday, April 12, 2026, with a public reception and awards ceremony from 3–5 PM. The exhibition remains on view through June 12, 2026.

Selected from more than 500 submissions from across Texas, this year’s exhibition reflects the breadth and vitality of contemporary practice. More than $14,000 in awards will be presented at the opening reception.

Museum Hours: 10 am–3 pm Tue–Sat. Admission is FREE.
