The San Antonio Art League + Museum (SAAL+M) proudly announces acclaimed fiber artist Susie Monday as its 2025 Artist of the Year, honoring her visionary work and lifelong contributions to the arts. This prestigious award, established in 1946, celebrates excellence across all artistic disciplines and this year shines a much-deserved spotlight on the expressive power of fiber art.Selected by a distinguished panel of national and international jurors, Monday’s recognition marks a milestone for both the artist and the regional fiber arts community. Her work—rich with color, symbolism, and cultural storytelling—has captivated audiences and elevated textile collage and surface design to new artistic heights.

Dale Chihuly's art is celebrated for its vibrant colors, movement, and fluidity. Try your hand at this art style with a version of Chihuly's famous technique. We will provide supplies while they last.
Join local artist Norman Rene Avila as he shares his personal archive of his artistic career and endeavors, including the creation and exhibitions held at the San Antonio Museum of Modern Art between 1976-1979. Trinity University archivist Abra Schnur will showcase the collection Avila has donated to his alma mater and provide best practices for archiving your own collection at home.
In collaboration with Trinity University's MAS (Mexico, the Americas & Spain) department and Coates Library.
Program will take place in The Monte Vista Historical Association office, which is located on the grounds of the Landa Branch Library in the annex next to the garage.
The Intuitive Stitched Book is designed to allow for a wide spectrum of design, with both paper and stitches. Participants will create a book tailored to them, using various designs in paper cutting and bookbinding stitches.
All materials provided, along with guided instruction. No bookbinding experience needed.
Tickets must be purchased online at least 12 hours before workshop. No walk-ins. Space is limited. Tickets are non refundable so please plan accordingly before purchasing. Please have email confirmation / ticket readily available upon arrival. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Attendees will learn about the significance of the Autumnal Equinox—the moment of balance between light and dark—and engage in thoughtfully crafted writing prompts designed to deepen your self-awareness and cultivate personal insight. Whether you’re new to reflective writing or a seasoned writer, this workshop invites you to pause, reflect, and dwell gently in this seasonal transition.

About the Facilitator:
Fernando Rover Jr is an artist and creative wellness guide based in San Antonio, Texas. His work takes an interdisciplinary approach and utilizes elements of poetry, photography, and film. He holds a dual Bachelor's degree in English and history from Texas Lutheran University and a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies from Prescott College. He is the author of three poetry books: Labyrinth (2019), Sanctuary: A 'Labyrinth' Redux (2020), and Maverick (2022). Rover Jr. is a two time recipient of the Literary Titan Award in 2020 and 2022, respectively, and was the inaugural recipient of the 2019 Best Indie Book Award for Poetry.

Carol Elliott has been selected for the Texas Commission on the Arts 2024–2026 Texas Touring Roster—a prestigious recognition of her talent and contribution to the arts. From her roots as a street performer in San Francisco to working with Nashville legends like Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks, and brilliant songwriter David Olney.
Joe Reyes, a San Antonio native, can play almost anything on guitar: country, R&B, conjunto, flamenco and more. He has played with Texans Flaco Jimenez & Freddy Fender. Carol & Joe have teamed up to play on stage at the King William Fair.
