Join us every third Sunday of the month for a restorative, hour-long meditation session led by a seasoned practitioner. Held outdoors in the tranquil setting of Chris Park, each session offers a variety of mindfulness techniques and begins with a gentle introduction, perfect for both first-time and experienced meditators alike.
Please dress comfortably for outdoor weather and bring a mat or cushion for sitting.
Free and open to all. Registration is recommended but not required.

Join Picture Your World on Sunday, November 15, from 1:00–4:00 p.m. at Mitchell Lake Audubon Center for an afternoon of photography, hiking, and outdoor discovery. Explore peaceful wetland trails, look for colorful fall scenery, watch for birds and other wildlife, and discover how patience can lead to unforgettable photographs.
Designed for youth ages 8–18, Picture Your World encourages young photographers to slow down, look closely, and see the natural world from a new perspective. Every Picture Your World workshop explores a different park, and this month you'll discover how wildlife thrives right in the heart of the city.No photography experience is needed. Green Spaces Alliance provides digital cameras, hands on photography instruction, and a guided hike with a Master Naturalist.
The registration fee is $15 per youth participant. Some scholarships are available updon request. Advanced registration is required.

On this guided bird tour around the various habitats of Mitchell Lake Audubon Center, guests will see at least 30-50 different bird species with our expert guide. Travelling by both car and by foot to access as many areas as possible, this tour is best suited for the birder age 15+ as it can last up to four hours, though you may leave at any time. Tours are limited. Bring your binoculars, bottle for water, closed-toe shoes, long pants, and bug spray.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by exploring the journey of Tango; from the roots of Argentine Tango to its evolution into the ballroom style known as American Tango.
In this engaging, beginner-friendly progressive experience, you’ll learn the history behind both styles while building foundational steps, posture, and connection, week by week. Discover how the movements of one influenced the other as you grow in confidence and skill.
No previous experience needed just curiosity and a willingness to move.
Link for registration (all dance classes) is on the 9/5/26 calendar listing. This is a progressive dance instruction series and attendance at all or most of the classes is preferred. Class dates are Saturdays, September 5, 12, 19 & 26 from 12-1 PM. Classes will take place in the foyer which is located in front of the auditorium inside Central Library.
