Neil Debbage presents at Think Science at the Malú and Carlos Alvarez Theater on August 19, 2022.

Record-breaking heat waves are cooking the U.S. this summer, and in Texas, triple-digit days have been commonplace. If this the future, what can Texans do to protect themselves during future summers?

This Think Science event, held on August 19, 2022 at the Malú and Carlos Alvarez Theater, features three researchers and experts:

  • Dr. Neil Debbage: Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science and Geography, UTSA, who speaks about the urban heat island effect and what we can do to overcome it.
  • Dr. Anita Kurian, SA Metro Health, who offers advice on how to stay safe from communicable diseases common to the summer months.
  • Donna Costa, LMSW, NAMI San Antonio, who talks about how to keep your cool, mentally, during the hot summers.

Moderator:Nathan Cone, Texas Public Radio
