Join us for a book club that gives you the opportunity to be with other readers without the pressure of required reading or discussion. Light refreshments will be provided by the library. We will meet at the Thousand Oaks Branch every first Tuesday of the month at 5:30pm.

Josephine Ortiz of the SA Food Bank will be on-site at the Thousand Oaks branch library to help with screening, applying or renewing applications for SNAP, CHIP, WIC, Medicaid and more!

Come one come all to a hands on weekly tea brewing class. Learn the simple steps to brewing a perfect, organic, all natural cup of hot or glass of iced tea any time. Do it at home, at work, on the road, literally anywhere you can get hot water (or cold water for cold brewed teas).

We will take all the mystery and angst out of tea brewing and explore the many health benefits of loose leaf and herbal teas. Find the one that is right for you with over 100 flavors and endless flavor combinations.

Fiesta Noche del Rio is a spectacular outdoor performance featuring live music, singing and dancing in the beautiful Arneson River Theatre in La Villita on the San Antonio River Walk. Alamo Kiwanis Club produces the show each summer to benefit local children’s charities, and the show is updated each year. Enjoy the Mariachis, Flamenco guitar, music, singing, dancing, bright costumes and a cool drink or snack as you help support children’s charities through your attendance.

Fiesta Noche del Rio performances are on Friday and Saturday nights at 8:30 p.m. at the Arneson River Theatre (418 Villita St.) from June 5 through August 1, but we recommend arriving early to get a great seat. It’s a fun show for the whole family and a San Antonio tradition since 1957.

Tickets: $25 Adults, $20 Seniors (60+)/Military, $10 Children (6-14, Under 6 is free). Tickets on-line and at HEB.

With an impressive body of work spanning the course of three decades, John Cusack has evolved into one of Hollywood’s most accomplished and respected actors of his generation, garnering both critical acclaim as well as prestigious accolades for his dramatic and comedic roles.

Most recently, Cusack appeared in the WWII spy film “Fog of War,” playing Robert, a conflicted intelligence officer navigating moral ambiguity during the war; “Detective Chinatown 1900,” a historical Chinese blockbuster directed by Chen Sicheng and Dai Mo; and Chinese espionage thriller “Decoded,” which focused on wartime code-breaking and intelligence.

In 2020, Cusack was seen in Prime Video’s SciFi series, “Utopia,” in which he stars as Dr. Kevin Christie, a charismatic, media-savvy, and brilliant biotech mind who wants to change the world through science. “Utopia” is based on Dennis Kelly’s British series of the same name and highly acclaimed author Gillian Flynn served as executive producer and showrunner.
