Interested in trying out some mystery? We’ll clue you in to some good titles! Each month, we’ve chosen a book from a different genre that we’ll read and discuss.

In March, our book journey begins with the thriller genre. The book selection is First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston.

In April (Historical Fiction) we'll discuss The Nickel Boys by Colson Whitehead.

In May (Fantasy) we'll discuss Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia.

The Silk Road District Festival is a living marketplace bringing together artisans, merchants, food vendors, performers, and community groups to explore trade, entrepreneurship, and connection — with culture as the context. The Merchant Road — A curated bazaar of artisan and community vendors grouped by craft and product style along a walkable market route.
The Oasis — Food trucks and vendors inspired by Silk Road regions, plus a hospitality tent designed for conversation and gathering.
Live Programming — Performances, demonstrations, and storytelling woven throughout the day.
The Exchange Table — A coin and currency display exploring the history of value and trade.
Storytelling Corners — Quiet spaces for reflection and listening.
Kids Area — Riding the Silk butterfly coming from Austin, Hands-on activities where young explorers discover trade routes, craftsmanship, and creativity.
Photo Booth — A themed photo experience to capture your day on the Road.
Why It Matters

Trade has always been about more than goods — it's about people, relationships, and shared journeys. The Silk Road District Festival celebrates the entrepreneurship, craftsmanship, and cultures that make exchange possible, then and now.

The event is presented by multiple community members and organization in San Antonio serving the Silk Road Cultural Heritage District.

The Gatherings is a community art celebration curated by fiber artist, Deborah Harris.

The Gatherings 2026 will feature San Antonio young artists who will showcase their art at the International Folk Culture Center. The Gatherings this year will focus on the question; What sparks you?

Young artists will share what their inspirations are and what keeps them creating. Community participants will have the opportunity to answer this question for themselves as they participate in the Art Workshop, Panel, and Food Sharing.

Join us as we hear from Hill Country Snake Removal about Texas Snake identification and safety. We will be learning facts about Texas snakes, how to identify venomous snakes, how to recognize the difference between venomous and non-venomous snakes, all about snake bites including what to do before you go to the hospital, and how to safely handle or contain a snake. Attendees will also have the opportunity to safely touch or handle a non-venomous snake!
