San Antonio District 10 Councilman Marc Whyte was arrested Friday for allegedly driving while intoxicated.

The District 10 councilman pleaded no contest in a Bexar County court to charges of driving while intoxicated and failure to exchange information relating to a Nov. 6 hit and run.

District 10 Councilman Clayton Perry ended months of speculation Thursday after he issued a statement saying he would not seek a fourth term in for San Antonio’s northeast side council district.

The District 10 councilman took a leave of absence for an alleged hit-and-run incident in November and a driving while intoxicated charge.

A joint statement from the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office and San Antonio Police Department said the at-large DWI charge was filed against Perry with the DA’s office on Tuesday.

Gallagher will stay in the position until Clayton Perry returns or the term ends next June, whichever comes first.

The council's resolution expressed no confidence in Perry, but it removed language asking him to leave. Perry plans to take a sabbatical.

The announcement of the special council meeting came one day after the police department released body cam footage of the impaired District 10 councilman following an alleged hit and run.

The video shows SAPD officer Patrick Des Rosiers arriving at Perry’s Northeast Side home just a few blocks away from the accident at Redland Road and Jones Maltsberger.
