Join the San Antonio Public Library and learn more about our city’s colorful past. Melissa Gohlke, Assistant Archivist at UTSA, and a scholar of San Antonio’s LGBTQIA+ history. Come peer behind the scenes at UTSA Special Collections and discover why and how the repository seeks out and acquires queer materials. Meet some of the generous donors who have supported this mission for many years and have helped preserve San Antonio’s important LGBTQ history. From rainbow pins to rhinestone high heels, surprising items can be found among the collections and serve as a portal into the lives of the individuals who held on to these ephemeral objects. Everyone has experienced some kind of difficulty or trauma in their lives. Healing is a process, and writing can be a key tool in that process. Join authors Jonny Garza Villa, Andrea “Vocab” Sanderson, and Marcia Argueta Mickelson as they discuss healing and emotional writing as part of their craft. Attendees also will be invited to produce some writing of their own.

This event will feature a Q&A session with the authors.

The Twig Book Shop and NAMI-SA will also join us for this special event!

You know what dragons really love? Tacos, of course! They love chicken tacos, beef tacos, great big tacos, and teeny tiny tacos. While a boy and his dog are watching TV, they unexpectedly learn the ‘do’s and don’ts’ of what kinds of tacos to serve dragons. Unfortunately, when the boy throws his new dragon friends a spicy salsa taco party, red-hot trouble ensues!

Discover the dietary delights and dilemmas of dragons in this fun-filled production, adapted from the New York Times best-selling book Dragons Love Tacos. It’s a sizzling story full of fiery fun for your entire family!

Join us for an Opening Night pre-show Party in the Park, in partnership with Hemisfair, on Saturday, June 21st, starting at 5 PM! Enjoy music by DJ Mayhem, tacos, aguas frescas, and dragon crafts!

Bush, which featured Becker Vineyard’s 2022 Cabernet Reserve — This is a black tie affair, with only 26 seats available as the event will take place in the cellar at Becker Vineyards.

Experience includes a welcome reception with wine + seated multi-course dinner & wine pairing.

We welcome all middle and high school ages to come join us for a Fiesta Youth meeting. Our youth meetings provide a safe, non-judgmental, affirming place for all LGBTQ+ youth. Every Tuesday, our youth meet at Woodlawn Pointe to meet new friends, participate in fun games and activities (field trips, too!), and join in on group discussions.

URBAN-15 seeks talented drummers with experience from high school, college, or any musical group for the 2025-2026 season of performances. These performances include a wide variety events, including Dia de Los Muertos, Luminaria, and International Festivals. Interested drummers are invited to call (210) 736-1500 or email events@urban15.org, and to join URBAN-15’s drum ensemble during open rehearsals Thursdays at 7pm at 2500 S. Presa. This Open Call is FREE to join, and open to all members of the community regardless of age, race, or gender identity.

Drummers enrolled into the Open Call will practice the ensemble’s various performance styles and genres, including Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, and experimental rhythms. Final selections to join the URBAN-15 Percussion Ensemble will take place at the end of the Open Call period during a formal tryout. Those selected to join will be expected to participate in the majority of the season’s performances as well as perform in gear such as illuminated costumes, helmets, and masks alongside URBAN-15’s Dance Ensemble. URBAN-15’s ensembles are close knit groups, and may lead to professional connections within or outside the musical sphere. Ensemble members are also asked to volunteer for miscellaneous duties such as parking assistance, kitchen aid, guest ushering, and more.

Hairspray is a vibrant and energetic musical set in the 1960s that follows Tracy Turnblad, a plucky teenager with big dreams and even bigger hair. Tracy’s passion for dancing leads her to audition for “The Corny Collins Show,” a popular local TV dance program. Despite societal pressures and her plus-sized figure, she wins a spot on the show, becoming an overnight sensation with her infectious optimism in “Good Morning Baltimore.” The musical addresses themes of acceptance, diversity, and social justice, all wrapped up in catchy tunes such as the show-stopping “You Can’t Stop the Beat” and the empowering “Welcome to the 60’s.” With its high-energy dance numbers and memorable songs, Hairspray is a feel-good musical with a meaningful message about fighting prejudice and championing inclusivity.

The 2025 Cinema Tuesdays series is from June 3 to September 2 at the Santikos Northwest theater. Join us at the show each week to experience amazing classic films on the big screen, benefitting TPR. Showtimes will be 7:30 each night, and reservations for all 14 films are available now.

Presented by the URBAN-15 Group, the Josiah Media Festival is one of few film festivals around the world dedicated to showcasing outstanding works by artists 21 years old and younger.

The 19th JMF will accept film submissions from May 1st – August 1st, 2025.

The festival presents a career-defining opportunity for young media artists to showcase their work around the world. The festival was founded in 2007 in honor of San Antonio filmmaker Josiah Miles Neundorf by his parents, Marcus and Nancy Neundorf, who collaborated with URBAN-15 to create this event.

Now in it’s 19th year, JMF not only streams globally, but has grown to screen films submitted from all around of the world.

Enter your film in three easy steps:

2) Read through the Guidelines and fill out the Entry and Release Forms in full.

3) Send us your completed Entry and Release Forms along with a High-Definition copy of your film by mail to the Josiah Media Festival, 2500 S. Presa, San Antonio, TX, 78210 or by email to josiahfestival@urban15.org.
