Civil rights advocates, elected officials and families gathered at Our Lady of the Lake University to document the impact of federal immigration enforcement on San Antonio communities.

Civil rights groups will collect testimony Tuesday about detention, surveillance and the effects of federal immigration enforcement on families, businesses and communities.

San Antonio’s Our Lady of the Lake University says they’ve received approval to offer streamlined bachelor’s degrees that can be earned in six semesters.

The painting represents the treaty signed on Feb. 2, 1848, that ended the war between the United States and Mexico and established the Rio Grande as a border between Texas and Mexico.

OLLU started the fall semester on Monday with 19 fewer degree programs than it had in the spring. Students in one of the cut programs say the university isn’t meeting its obligations to them.

Plans are underway to eliminate some degrees and academic programs at Our Lady of the Lake University. The cuts will also result in a reduction in some faculty and staff positions.

Starting in the fall 2024 semester, undergraduate students at Our Lady of the Lake University can lock in the price of their tuition for four consecutive years.

The exhibit is on display at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio through March 31 and was arranged by Refusing to Forget, a group of historians who work to bring awareness to the period of state-sanctioned violence against Mexicans in Texas.

The school will teach Ukrainian culture and language and will serve kids ages 4-12.
