Bexar County Republican Party Chair Cynthia Brehm is refusing to certify the results of the primary runoff election. Brehm alleges mismanagement and said “every aspect of this election has been severely compromised.”
In her email, Brehm alleges the Bexar County Elections Department obstructed Republican poll watchers and failed to provide “positive control of the voting data.”
She said the county didn’t produce any signed official chain of custody for early vote data at 31 voting centers, that the county didn’t post a guard to secure that early voting data and that the early voting data was accessed prior to tabulation.
Brehm did not provide evidence beyond her own statements. The election results show Brehm only garnered about 34% of the vote losing her first term seat to John Austin.
Last month, Brehm came under fire for comments where she said the killing of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer was a staged event. That drew condemnation from Texas Republican officials, including Gov. Gregg Abbott, who publicly asked Brehm to resign her position. She refused.
