The South Texas Blood & Tissue Center has issued an urgent plea for blood donations following a night where accident victims and victims of violence needed a lot of blood.

Hospitals in San Antonio were flooded with patients from accidents and violence last night, leading to an urgent call today for blood donations.

The South Texas Blood & Tissue Center says all six donor rooms are open today.

Without more blood available cancer and surgery patients may have to push back their scheduled procedures.

Blood donations across the country are at a 30-year low. January is National Blood Donor Month.
