On the morning of Saturday, May 9, 2026, the heart of Lockhart will beat a little louder. The Retired Nurses Group of Caldwell County (RNGCC) will transform the Courthouse Square in Downtown Lockhart into a grand celebration of service, health, and community — rolling out a literal red carpet to honor the nurses of Caldwell County who have devoted their careers to healing others.

The event, free and open to the public, is set to begin at 10:00 AM. The centerpiece of the morning will be the Nurses Red Carpet Walk — a formal processional in which retired nurses will be escorted down an elegant red carpet, flanked by velvet ropes and well-wishers, in recognition of their lifetime of service to the community. Organizers say the walk is designed to give nurses the celebrity treatment they have long deserved.

Discover hidden treasures while making a meaningful impact at this special thrift-shopping event hosted by CAM. From gently used clothing to unique household finds, every purchase supports a powerful mission: providing mental health treatment to individuals experiencing homelessness.
Proceeds benefit CAM’s mental health program, which offers professional psychiatric care and medications to those whose homelessness is linked to mental illness. The program has helped participants move toward stability through housing, family reunification, and recovery support.
CAM is also seeking donations of sale items and volunteers to help with the event.

Sprout’N About Farmers Market offers items for sale including fresh produce, artisan goods and handmade finds. Shoppers are encouraged to bring reusable bags to support low waste. Enjoy live music by Jake Gardner from The Roughstock. The event also features a full petting zoo.

Join us for the inaugural San Antonio Duck Derby, a high-energy, family-friendly community event set to take place on May 9, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Historic Pearl’s Riverbend Amphitheater. Thousands of bright yellow rubber ducks will splash into the San Antonio River and race to the finish line, creating an unforgettable spectacle in support of three impactful local nonprofits:
● Rotary Club of San Antonio’s Kingdom for Kids: Building safe, joyful spaces for San Antonio’s children to play.
● SNIPSA: Animal rescue and low cost spay/neuter resource for San Antonio pets.
● Snack Pak 4 Kids San Antonio: Providing food for children facing food insecurity.
“This exciting new event brings our community together for a day of fun, philanthropy, and friendly competition,” said Kelley Frost, President of the Rotary Club of San Antonio. “Every duck adopted helps improve lives across our city—providing meals for children, care for animals, and safe places for kids to play.”
