Slow down, look closely, and draw inspiration from the art on view. This new monthly program invites participants to spend the lunch hour sketching a single artwork from the McNay’s collection.
Each session begins with a brief group discussion, followed by a series of quick gestural sketches and longer observational drawing. Inspired by the centuries-old tradition of learning by sketching masterworks, this program is open to teens and adults of all experience levels. Basic sketching materials provided.
Registration required. Free with Museum admission or membership.

The primary activity of UTSA's Friends of Shakespeare is hosting an annual performance series by Actors From the London Stage. This Shakespeare residency is not supported by any state funds, but rather by gifts from friends like you and ticket revenues. For many students the Shakespeare performance is their first experience with professional theater. Additionally, it is almost always their only chance to interact with and learn from acclaimed Shakespearean actors from world-renowned companies.
UTSA will be hosting the Actors From the London Stage’s Performance of The Tempest on October 1, 3, and 4 in 2025. General sales begin on August 15.
To see the Main Campus performance on Wednesday, October 1 in the UTSA Arts Building Recital Hall on the Main campus, buy your tickets at this link.
To see the Downtown Campus performances on October 3rd and 4th in the newly renovated Buena Vista Theatre, buy your tickets at this link.
There will be a FREE SHUTTLE from the UT-San Antonio Main Campus to the Buena Vista and back on Friday night. The shuttle will depart from the stop in front of the North Paseo Building at 6:30 PM and return after the play has finished (around 9:30 PM)."
Free parking is available at both venues. On the Main Campus, park in Bauerle Lot 1. On the Downtown Campus, park in the Cattleman Square Lot.
UTSA Friends of Shakespeare are able to purchase seats of their choice before other patrons. They are also invited to a pre-performance lecture at the Saturday performance, and a champagne reception after Saturday's performance.
