The Briscoe is excited to invite guests and members of the museum to participate in our community Ofrenda (Altar) in celebration of Dia de los Muertos.

The Day of the Dead Holiday is thought to have grown from Indigenous origins blending with European traditions in Mexico and today is a national symbol of Mexican and Mexican-American heritage.

The Briscoe’s Ofrenda commemorates loved ones of the museum’s staff, community and the West. Museum guests and members are invited to add photos of lost loved ones and your personal offering.

Join us for Free Yoga on the Lawn at VelocityTX!

Take a break from your week to move, stretch, and breathe in the fresh air. This outdoor class is open to all levels—whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned yogi.

This session will also feature a calming sound bath with singing bowls to deepen relaxation and help you leave feeling refreshed and balanced.

Bring your mat, water, and a friend, and enjoy a relaxing and energizing flow on our campus green space.

This event is free and open to the community. Space is first come, first served, so arrive a few minutes early to find your spot.

Come ready to connect, recharge, and experience the benefits of yoga and the soothing power of sound in a welcoming, outdoor setting.

The Shops at La Cantera is partnering with ThriveWell Cancer Foundation for a Pink Bag Event from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, October 18 at the common area by Luciano’s Ristorante across from Barnes & Noble to raise awareness during breast cancer month. The United Breast Cancer Foundation via Brookfield Properties donated Pink Bags to ThriveWell to distribute to its cancer survivors. ThriveWell will be on site to share information about its patient assistance; Diva & Dude; and cancer research programs.

Artist Taylor Lane will paint live and donate her painting to ThriveWell for auction at its Bras For A Cause gala. Taylor is a mixed media artist who favors acrylic, oil, and spray paint. She is inspired by Texan imagery and vibrant colors like the fiery pink and orange hues that light the sunset. Her painting style might be described as controlled chaos. With wild and striking elements of color, composition, and text conveyed as a balanced and intentional final piece - her art is representative of her story. Additionally lululemon yogi ambassador Jody Whiting will lead a beginning yoga class for cancer survivors from 11:15 to noon.

ThriveWell Cancer Foundation is dedicated to finding a cure for cancer by funding cancer research; providing patient support including financial and transportation assistance; and offering health and wellness programs to improve the quality of life for patients and their families. ThriveWell is a local 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 2010 serving San Antonio and the surrounding areas.

United Breast Cancer Foundation founded in October 2000, United Breast Cancer Foundation (UBCF) is a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit that began as a small grassroots organization serving low-income, under and non-insured women and men in New York State. UBCF is headquartered in Huntington Station, NY and has regional offices in Arkansas, Maryland, and Missouri. We serve women, men and their families across the country through 8 life-supporting patient and family programs.

Bring your projects and supplies, and mingle with other needlecrafters for an afternoon of sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc.! All skill levels are welcome in this self-directed meetup. This is not an instructional class. The target audience is adults but teens are also welcome to attend with an adult.

This program will be hosted the third Saturday of each month at 12pm, unless otherwise noted in the Thousand Oaks Library calendar. Please call Thousand Oaks Library for more information.

In collaboration with The Austin Séance, The Texas Spirit Gathering is a day-long symposium-style event that brings together leading experts on occult and spiritualist history.
