Rather than conventional display walls, The Fine ART of Dining features sculptural and visual artworks arranged as full-scale table installations, complete with centerpieces, place settings, serving pieces, utensils, and more. Works from artists across Texas—ceramicists, fiber artists, painters, and sculptors—come together in a whimsical, elegant, and sometimes provocative exploration of what it means to gather and share a meal.

This is a call for much needed volunteers for community events we host on the Southeast side of San Antonio, Texas! All our events are open to the public and to all of San Antonio. Our goal is to help bring much needed resource vendors to our neck of the woods and help support the many small businesses that make up our beautiful city! We are always in need of Volunteers to help with this events, from greeting attendees, answering questions, helping with event setup, giveaways, etc.

Our volunteer opportunities offer community service hours as well!

Join the Youth Leadership Organization (a project of Southwest Workers Union) as we celebrate summer and all their hard work this session! There will be games, food, workshops, swimming, a theatre performance, and more. We will be at Lincoln Park (2803 E Commerce) on Friday August 1st from 11am-3pm for this free event. Our youth are aged 13-17 but all ages are welcomed.

“JAMES BALDWIN: THE PRICE OF THE TICKET”. James Baldwin (1924-1987) was at once a major twentieth century American author, a Civil Rights activist and, for two crucial decades, a prophetic voice calling Americans, Black and white, to confront their shared racial tragedy. James Baldwin: The Price of the Ticket captures on film the passionate intellect and courageous writing of a man who was born black, impoverished, gay and gifted, in the month of what would have been Baldwin’s 100th birthday.

Open to all ages . . .

This show will be an evening with, Herb Alpert and his brand-new Tijuana Brass. Herb along with his 6 great musicians will be playing all of your favorite TJB hit songs just as you remember hearing them while growing up.

2025 will mark the 60th anniversary of the iconic album, “Whipped Cream & Other Delights”.Herb and the band will be performing many of those great songs in addition to many other hit songs that we all know; “The Lonely Bull”, “Spanish Flea”, “Taste of Honey”, “Mexican Shuffle”, “Tijuana Taxi”, “This Guy’s In Love With You”, “What Now My Love”,“Zorba the Greek”, “Ladyfingers”, “Rise” and many other delights.

The show runs 90 minutes and is informal as Herb loves to answer questions from the audience about his career, A&M Records, and the many iconic artists like Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66, The Carpenters, and Burt Bacharach that he has worked with over the past 63 years. The show features a giant video screen that displays hundreds of classic photos, videos, art and various memorabilia from Herb’s music career. A really exciting show and truly a Once in a Lifetime Concert Event!

URBAN-15 seeks talented drummers with experience from high school, college, or any musical group for the 2025-2026 season of performances. These performances include a wide variety events, including Dia de Los Muertos, Luminaria, and International Festivals. Interested drummers are invited to call (210) 736-1500 or email events@urban15.org, and to join URBAN-15’s drum ensemble during open rehearsals Thursdays at 7pm at 2500 S. Presa. This Open Call is FREE to join, and open to all members of the community regardless of age, race, or gender identity.

Drummers enrolled into the Open Call will practice the ensemble’s various performance styles and genres, including Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, and experimental rhythms. Final selections to join the URBAN-15 Percussion Ensemble will take place at the end of the Open Call period during a formal tryout. Those selected to join will be expected to participate in the majority of the season’s performances as well as perform in gear such as illuminated costumes, helmets, and masks alongside URBAN-15’s Dance Ensemble. URBAN-15’s ensembles are close knit groups, and may lead to professional connections within or outside the musical sphere. Ensemble members are also asked to volunteer for miscellaneous duties such as parking assistance, kitchen aid, guest ushering, and more.

Hairspray is a vibrant and energetic musical set in the 1960s that follows Tracy Turnblad, a plucky teenager with big dreams and even bigger hair. Tracy’s passion for dancing leads her to audition for “The Corny Collins Show,” a popular local TV dance program. Despite societal pressures and her plus-sized figure, she wins a spot on the show, becoming an overnight sensation with her infectious optimism in “Good Morning Baltimore.” The musical addresses themes of acceptance, diversity, and social justice, all wrapped up in catchy tunes such as the show-stopping “You Can’t Stop the Beat” and the empowering “Welcome to the 60’s.” With its high-energy dance numbers and memorable songs, Hairspray is a feel-good musical with a meaningful message about fighting prejudice and championing inclusivity.
