Going stir-crazy? Feel like you haven't left the house in a decade? We've got a few ideas of ways you can pass the time:
- Set Design with Designer Nicholas Ponting
On Thursday, June 11, from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m., there will be a virtual studio for students in Grades 6-8. Learn what role a set designer plays in the theatrical process, what skills you need to be a designer and how sets are built in this free course. Click here to register.
- Vocal Technique and Pedagogy with Music Director Jaime Ramirez
On Friday, June 12, from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m., there will be a free virtual studio for high-schoolers. Stay in practice with your vocal training during this time away from the physical classroom. This class will share vocal warm ups to do at home, go through the ways to keep your voice in shape and discover your most powerful sound! Click here to register.
- Oprah's "Your Life In Focus"
Over the course of four weeks, Oprah will share lessons in wellness, leading audiences through interactive workbook exercises to help them find ways to live their healthiest and most well lives during these challenging times.
- Enjoy stand-up
Even before quarantine, Mind Twist Comedy had been hosting weekly stand-up. Enjoy 3-minute clips from 10 comics, hosted by Irma Ruiz and a guest co-host. Tuesdays at 9 p.m. on Facebook Live.
- Terror Tuesday/Weird Wednesday
Alamo Drafthouse is continuing its signature cinephile series Terror Tuesday and Weird Wednesday with weekly online screening, featuring pre-show content, intros and discussions.
- Folklórico for adults
Not sure what to do this week? Learn to dance! El Tallercito de Son SATX is hosting free zooming class for adults of all ages and dancing abilities. Beginner classes are Mondays 7–8 p.m., and intermediate classes are Thursdays from 7–8 p.m. Zoom link provided day of.
