KSTX's most unusual holiday tradition continues this year with "Peabo's Christmas Holiday," hosted by Nathan Cone, David Furst, and Peabo, the unofficial Texas Public Radio mascot.
Peabo, for those not in the know, is a rooster. A rooster who loves Texas, loves public radio, and loves Christmas music. From 1997-2010, Peabo was the outcue for KSTX's Texas Music program "Sunday Night Session," and since 2001, he has welcomed the arrival of Santa at midnight with a Christmas Eve program of music, mirth and merrymaking. Peabo works for months on the playlist for the show, partially because when he's at the typewriter, his skills are really hunt-and-peck.
Past specials have found Peabo showing David and Nathan the true meaning of Christmas, hosting a family reunion of his flock, rescuing Santa from the Christmas Meanies, and throwing a party at Gruene Hall.
But this year, David and Nathan are actually planning to give Peabo a bit of a breather from the stress of planning the show. Find out what happens when Peabo really does leave David and Nathan in charge on "Peabo's Christmas Holiday," Christmas Eve at 11:00 p.m. on KSTX 89.1 FM!
