Opera Gala Premieres World Class Singers At The Majestic

The Opera San Antonio (TOSA) presents a "Gala Concert of Stars" at the Majestic Theater this Thursday, May 23 at 7 p.m. These stars include Patricia Racette, Jay Hunter Morris, DoloraZajick, Daniela Mack, AlekShrader, Lucas Meacham, and Eric Owens.

TOSA announced LisetteOropesa is replacing Susannah Biller, who was unavailable due to a schedule conflict.

KPAC's John Clare spoke to Texas tenor Jay Hunter Morris about the gala last week. Morris says he is looking forward to returning to his home state.

"I haven't sung there in seven years or so, since the Siegfried thing happened. So a lot of folks are going to come and hear me - I am looking forward to seeing friends and family there in San Antonio, and some traveling from Paris, Texas!"

Here is a classic video of Morris singing Wagner:

Next season, TOSA will collaborate with the San Antonio Symphony, who is playing Thursday night, in Dvorak's Rusalka. No roles have been announced for that yet. Future fully-staged productions will be presented in the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, beginning in January 2015.
