Reagan High School Student "Dazzles" KPAC with a Special Request

Recently, an enterprising high school student reached out to TPR and KPAC staff with an unusual request that caught the attention of KPAC Program Director John Clare.

Alissa Stolt is a junior at Ronald Reagan High School. She has been a member of the Reagan choir for three years, and is applying to be a part of the choir council for the 2013-14 school year. As part of the application process, students are required to do something creative and out-of-the-box to recommend themselves for the council.  To meet this "Dazzle Me" requirement, Alissa contacted TPR and asked that we broadcast two selections from a performance by the Ronald Reagan High School Choir.

Texas Public Radio remains firmly committed to expanding an appreciation for classical music to younger audiences, and Alissa's request seemed to fit perfectly with our mission.  Texas Public Radio will proudly broadcast the Ronald Reagan High School Varsity Mixed Choir performing "ZumGali," an Israeli folk song arranged by Maurice Goldman, and the Ronald Reagan High School Varsity Women's Choir performing "Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep" by Laura Farnell, recorded in April 2012. The performance will air at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 10 on KPAC 88.3 FM in San Antonio and KTXI 90.1 FM in the Hill Country.

Good luck, Alissa, and keep singing!

UPDATE: June 3, 2013
We recently heard from Alissa. She proudly announced that she did get the position of choir council secretary. Congratulations, Alissa!
