KPAC 88.3 FM Celebrates Public Radio Music Month With Guest DJs, More

National Initiative Honors Connection Between Public Radio & Artists

Texas Public Radio will participate with hundreds of public radio stations in the second annual Public Radio Music Month, a month‐long initiative in April 2013 that celebrates public radio stations’ invaluable role in America’s music culture.

Public Radio Music Month is a nationwide initiative that connects local public radio stations, artists and audiences in communities across the United States. Stations and their partners are featuring exclusive interviews, performances and more throughout the month.

"We are so happy to work closely with local artists, and throughout April those relationships are going to be up front and on display." said Program Director John Clare. "Not only does KPAC provide public service announcements and a viable marketing outlet for San Antonio arts organizations, we share a valuable musical environment for the entire community. Whether it is a live broadcast from Carnegie Hall, the Metropolitan Opera or an in-studio performance at KPAC, listeners are connected on air and online with some of the greatest music ever."

Public radio has a substantial footprint in music. Consider these facts:

  • Since 1982, KPAC has broadcast the best classical music has to offer, with vibrant performances from the best orchestras, conductors and classical music performers in the world while maintaining a focus on local performing arts organizations.
  • Across the country, more than 180 public radio stations have full‐time music formats and more than 650 more play music as part of their programming lineups.
  • One in three public radio listening hours is to music.
  • Public radio stations air more than 5 million hours of music per year, the majority of which is local programming.

As part of Public Radio Music Month, KPAC 88.3 FM will feature the following events
and performances:
