Texas Public Radio Thanks Dan Skinner for Six Years of Service

After six years of leading the organization, Texas Public Radio's President and General Manager Dan Skinner issued his resignation to the TPR Board of Directors effective November 9, 2012.

During his tenure, Skinner was instrumental in leading TPR’s strategic direction.  Under his stewardship, TPR saw dramatic growth in audience and services, particularly the expansion of local news coverage and the development of an award-winning newsroom.

“We thank Dan for his service to TPR over the last six years and wish him well,” said Pat McGowan, Board Chair.

Skinner took the reins of TPR in November 2006 after the retirement of Joe Gwathmey, who had managed Texas Public Radio since the late 1980s.  Skinner leaves TPR to accept the position of general manager at Kent State-based public radio station WKSU in Ohio.

TPR will continue to provide classical music on KPAC-FM and news and information on KSTX-FM, as well as on KTXI-FM in the Texas Hill Country.  “Texas Public Radio is well positioned to remain a premier public radio provider,” said McGowan.

Texas Public Radio will immediately begin a nationwide search for a new president and general manager.
