The City's Department of Arts and Culture and the San Antonio Arts Commission are seeking feedback on a draft plan focused on enhancing and promoting performing arts. What needs and opportunities exist when it comes to this sector of the creative community?

How are "performing arts" defined? How could the new plan impact performance artists, performing arts spaces, San Antonio residents and people visiting the city?

The Performing Arts Strategic Plan falls under the department's overarching CulTÚArt Plan, which identifies strategies to make San Antonio an internationally recognized "confluence of living arts & authentic cultures."

Years of work have gone into crafting a Music Strategic Plan to establish music-friendly policies and programs and enhance industry professionalism.

How will the forthcoming performance arts-specific plan work in conjunction with strategies related to other kinds of art? What unique opportunities and challenges exist when it comes to the performing arts?

San Antonio's overall creative industry brought in almost $4 billion in 2016. What is the cultural and economic impact of performing arts, specifically?

What's being done to encourage public input and foster engagement with performance arts? What is the value of a strong arts community for a burgeoning city like San Antonio?

The next community feedback meeting will be held Wednesday, November 13, at 6 p.m. at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center.  The plan will be presented to the Arts Funding Committee and San Antonio Arts Commission in December and to City Council in January for approval.
