2015 Artist Shirt And Apron Celebrate San Antonio Artists Chuck Ramirez, Robert Rehm

Mar 30, 2015

Each year since 2006, Texas Public Radio has featured a t-shirt newly designed by a local artist as a thank-you gift. We are breaking with that tradition this year to honor two previous contributors: Chuck Ramirez and Robert Rehm.

In 2007, Chuck Ramirez’s pop-art infused coffee cup spilled its TPR goodness across the front of our ringer tee. To honor his contributions to the local art community, and his support of TPR, we are again presenting his design, this time on a natural-colored apron perfect for outdoor grilling (and coffee drinking).

Ramirez’s tragic death in 2010 following a bicycle accident shocked and saddened the San Antonio art scene. As a local artist and designer, his works in large-scale photography and sculptural installations demonstrated his deep and humorous understanding of the human condition. You can see more of Ramirez's art at this link.

Robert Rehm’s design graced TPR’s artist t-shirt in 2008. One of our most popular designs, it features a clever armadillo who certainly knows a good thing when he hears it. This year, the design will be presented on a cadet blue tee in a variety of sizes for men and women.

Rehm passed away in January of 2015, having established himself as a fixture in San Antonio art and theater. Rehm taught theater at Jefferson High School, designed eye-popping costumes for Cornyation and was a longtime member of the Jump-Start Performance Community.

Both Ramirez and Rehm gifted their talents to the community and to TPR as part of that community. We are lessened by their passing, and we celebrate their generosity of spirit in our reissue of their works.

Donors who contribute at the $60 level or higher this spring ($40 for seniors and students) may select either the Chuck Ramirez Commemorative Apron or the Robert Rehm Commemorative T-Shirt as a thank-you gift. In addition, the apron is available as a companion to our “Food for Thought” Cookbook for a contribution of $120.
