SA Program Seeks Dropouts For Workforce Training

SA Youth is about to start another YouthBuild program for high school dropouts between the ages of 16 and 24. The program offers young adults an opportunity to receive their high school diploma or GED while receiving workforce training.

“They’ll spend half of their time in construction training, or some other training, usually it’s construction, where they’ll work on a house, build it from the ground up and get a construction certification,” said SA Youth CEO Cynthia Le Monds. “And then they spend the other half of their time working with GED instructors and certified teachers.”

Participants in the free program spend 20 hours a week on each for about a year.

“YouthBuild has had a significant impact on hundreds of young adults, who have successfully completed our program by graduating with their GED and have found jobs that allow them to support themselves and their families,” said Le Monds.

Applications are being accepted through the first week of February. Details are available at SanAntonioYouth.org.
