The Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society at UT San Antonio is pleased to welcome John Frederick, who will deliver his last lecture "Change and Changing Perspectives".
John Frederick is Professor of Chemistry at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). He earned an A.B. from Princeton and an A.M. and Ph.D. from Harvard and taught on the Chemistry faculty of the University of Nevada, Reno from 1988-2001, serving as chair of the department (1999-2001) and director of the Chemical Physics program (1990-2001). He was appointed Executive Vice-President and Provost at Nevada from 2001-2007, then served as a Senior Fellow at the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities in 2007-08. Dr. Frederick was appointed Provost and Vice-President for Academic Affairs at UTSA from 2008-2016, and served concurrently as interim Vice-President for Research in 2012-13. He is a native of San Antonio, and is married with two college-age children.

Join us for an evening of learning how to create your own loom from recycled materials and a weaving lesson to create your own unique fiber piece! Instruction will include how to make a loom, how to set it up for weaving, how to use your new loom, and how to remove your piece when finished. Participants should leave class with a new skill, the loom they built, and a finished piece.
All materials provided - participants are welcome to bring any fabric scrap strips or yarn they'd like to use. No weaving experience necessary!

Tickets must be purchased online at least 12 hours before the workshop. No walk-ins. Space is limited. Tickets are non refundable so please plan accordingly before purchasing. Please have email confirmation / ticket readily available upon arrival. Children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Attendees may bring non messy snacks and drinks in sealable containers. Please note that photographs will be taken throughout this workshop. These may be used by Spare Parts for marketing and publicity in our publications, on our website and in social media or in any third party publication.
