Boerne Book Festival 2025
The Boerne Book Festival will take place on Saturday, October 4th, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the grounds of the beautiful Patrick Heath Public Library in Boerne, Texas, 451 North Main Street. This is the signature program facilitated by the Patrick Heath Public Library.
As always, the festival focuses on Texas and its rich history. Some of the highlights this year include: Bestselling author Bryan Burrough and his new book “The Gunfighters: How Texas Made the West Wild,” an interview with bestselling author Stephen Harrigan on his latest books, fan favorites James Wade and Andrew Porter on the Writers’ League of Texas panel discussion, and a cookbook author panel featuring several area members of Les Dames de Escoffier.
Some of our featured vendor tents this year include the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, UT Press, Texas Tech University Press, the San Antonio Sci-Fi and Fantasy Authors, the Kendall County Historical Association, South Texas Authors of Romance, and more.

Families with children ages birth to 3 years are invited to enjoy a special day of play, bonding, and celebration together.

Here’s what you can look forward to:
- Engaging sensory play across multiple spaces
- Experiences tailored for infants, toddlers, and three-year-olds
- Indoor and outdoor play

Drop in anytime between 10 am and 2 pm—and don’t forget to wear your play clothes!
Parking in the Central Library Garage is free for up to three hours.

Celebrate Archaeology Month with hands-on history! Visitors can try their hand at making their own clay pinch pots while learning about the tools and methods archaeologists use to uncover the past.

This event is free with regular admission.($1-$5) Advance registration is NOT required.

Limited free parking is available directly across from museum entrance and alongside the museum on W. Nueva Street. There are also a number of paid parking lots and garages within walking distance. Please visit our website for more information.

Join the Japan America Society of San Antonio's 40th anniversary at the 2025 Aki Matsuri. This Japanese Fall Festival is fun for the whole family with Japanese performances and games for the kids!

The event is free to attend with Japanese foods and drinks for sale at the festival. Local vendors will be selling merch, crafts, and snacks. We hope to see you there!

Do you enjoy high-stakes competition? Are you a fan of navigating Wikipedia pages and learning new things? If so, take part in Mammen Family Public Library’s Wikirace Tournament!

The goal of Wikirace is to get from one Wikipedia to another by only using links on the Wikipedia pages. In our tournament, teams of adults will be competing to see who can complete this challenge the fastest.

Competitors will be competing in teams arranged by age group:
Ages 18 - 35
Ages 36 - 55
Ages 55+

When Wolfgang, the “greatest actor in the world,” sets out to perform his one-man version of the Red Riding Hood story, he’s interrupted by a delivery driver with a mysterious package and plenty of opinions about how the story should go. Together, they jump into a fast and funny retelling of the classic fairy tale, playing every role and discovering unexpected surprises along the way. This clever, energetic, family-friendly show celebrates courage, bravery, and the strength that comes from working together.

Besos and Books brings together authors Angelina M. Lopez (After Hours on Milagro Street) and Gabriella Gamez (Kiss Me, Maybe) as they talk about crafting love stories that reflect culture, identity, joy, and desire—without apology.

Celebrate Latinx love stories and how they show up with heart, power, and truth on the page during this special Hispanic Heritage Month event.

Copies of both authors’ books will be available for purchase on-site.

Finally, a Saturday book club at the Encino Branch Library! Come babble about a different book on the first Saturday of each month. You deserve to read a little every day! And then you deserve to meet other readers and talk about it! Our October Biblio Babble selection is Whalefall by Daniel Kraus, a suspenseful “deep dive” into the complicated relationship between a father and son and the lengths we go to in hopes of reconciliation and redemption.
