Resources and Recreation for People with Disabilities and Their Families
In honor of National Disabilities Awareness Month, Texas Public Radio and disABILITYsa.org present the 6th annual AccessAbility Fest, a fun and informative day featuring resources, information, ideas and support for people with disabilities and their families. This free community event takes place on Sunday, October 28 from noon to 5 p.m. at HemisFair Park.
More than 100 local businesses and organizations will be on hand to provide information on products and services designed to improve the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities. AccessAbility Fest also presents fully-accessible activities and games for all ages and live entertainment by performance groups that feature people with disabilities, including Kinetic Kids and TamboRhythms Drumming.
Visitors are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes and participate in family-friendly trick-or-treating and a costume contest.
AccessAbility Fest is free and open to the public. Parking is available at the Alamodome Parking Lot A with shuttle service to and from HemisFair Park between 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. This event is a community initiative of Texas Public Radio in partnership with disABILITYsa.org and over a dozen area for- and non-profit agencies that specialize in serving people with disabilities.
2012 AccessAbility Fest is presented by H-E-B, the Valero Energy Foundation, Vía Metropolitan Transit and Wave Healthcare.
