Luminaria, the city's annual celebration of arts, is changing. A move of location, date, and length of time have the event poised for something big. This year's scheduled November 7-8 dates will mark the seventh Luminaria. The move to the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts will also be new.

Several members of the arts community are less excited about the change, or at least the lack of communication about the changes, and some are wondering if the event is losing its local focus, opting instead for national and international acts

What is coming for Luminaria and what will the role of local professional artists be?

Guests:

  • Liz Tullis, president of the Luminaria Board
  • Ethel Shipton, co-curator of Luminaria

*This is the first segment in the August 19 edition of The Source, which airs at 3 p.m. on KSTX 89.1 FM.
