The Source: Teacher Tenure Ruled Unconstitutional

In California schools, as of last week, teacher tenure is unconstitutional. That was the finding of a state judge who said it adversely affected poor and minority students

Teachers unions argue the stability these protections provide are important in both recruiting teachers and in letting them teach free of political and other non-educational influencers. Critics say California's laws made it too difficult to fire bad teachers.
