When House Bill 5 passed last year it signaled yet another change in course for public education in Texas. Texas House and Senate members will take another look next Wednesday at the standards they passed last year and how the State Board of Education has implemented them.
The law has been criticized for its reduction of standardized testing as well as its granting more flexibility for school districts on graduation requirements. It dropped the mandatory four years of math and science. Many universities still require Algebra II for admission, which has been replaced.
What will the state house do with the current laws implementation? Are there big changes coming?
