'Playing Music Is What It's All About': Small World Live At Jazz, TX

Kyle Keener and Polly Harrison have been playing music in San Antonio for a long time. How long?

“Curtis Calderon, who we play with [at Jazz, TX] on every third Tuesday, says we played Santa Anna’s quinceañera—for his daughter,” Keener jokes. “We go back pretty far.”

Five decades, in fact. Through it all, the duo have weathered the ups and downs of the music industry and live performance, managing to keep it swinging for generations of fans. “I did a day job one time,” Keener admits. “It only lasted a month! I don’t know, playing music is what it’s all about. It’s in your heart, and you just get out there and do it, and have a great time. You have a lot of gigs some weeks… some weeks you sit at home and practice. But that’s okay, too.”

Small World’s musical focus is the Great American Songbook, and in this set you’ll hear songs like “No Moon At All,” “Moon River,” and even a lovely version of Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland.”
