FINAL: Bexar County Election Results Are In Following Software Delays
A total of 253,071 Bexar County ballots were cast in this year's primary election — that accounts for about 22.35% of all registered voters in the county.
Here's the breakdown:
- 113,650: Election Day
- 17,262: Absentee
- 122,159: Early Vote
Final voter turnout — along with the actual results — were delayed until about 4 a.m. due to software issues that inhibited the system to show cumulative polling results.
Bexar County Elections Administrator Jacque Callanen is scheduled to hold a press conference at 11 a.m. Wednesday to discuss the primary election results.
Representatives from Elections Systems & Software — the Omaha-based company that manufactures the voting machine equipment used in Bexar County — were present at the county elections office Wednesday morning trying to resolve the issue. Callanen said her office spent the bulk of its trainig mastering the new software and they werent prepared for issues with the final count.
"We've learned a lot with our new system and we do have a hiccup as far as the reporting part of it," she said. "We put out the early vote-in person and then we put it out by mail, and they weren't combined."
