Deacon Pat Rodgers

Deacon Pat Rodgers, the longtime director of communications for the Archdiocese of San Antonio died on Monday following a heart attack last Friday. He was 67.

Rodgers served nearly two decades in the communications department and was also the director of Catholic Television of San Antonio until his retirement in the summer of 2015.

Rodgers got his start in radio and worked at both WOAI and KTSA. He was ordained in 1999 and began working for the diocese in the development office. During his tenure he worked for three archbishops, was the spokesman for the diocese on a national and local level and helped to raise money for the mission and church ministries and restoration work.

His on-the-air name became so well-known he went by it throughout his career rather than returning to his given surname, Frisina. Rodgers was married for more than 45 years to wife Kristine. They raised five daughters, and were the grandparents to several grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are pending.
