Doctors at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio have released Gov. Gregg Abbott following treatment for 2nd and 3rd degree burns on his feet and legs.

Abbott spent four days at the Medical Center and underwent a skin graft procedure for burns he received from coming in contact with scalding water.  That happened while he was at a lodge in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Abbott who uses a wheelchair is paralyzed from the waist down but a spokesman has said the Governor felt pain from the burns, though details of what happened have not been released.

Abbott is returning to Austin instead of attending the Republican National Convention which he had originally planned to do.
