42-year Trinity Baptist Pastor Fanning Has Died

Iconic San Antonio pastor Buckner Fanning has died.  He passed away Sunday night at the age of 89.

He spent decades at Trinity Baptist Church before retiring in the early 2000s. Reverend Fanning was known for welcoming people from all walks of faith, and building Trinity into a 10,000-member strong congregation. He was friends with Billy Graham, including hosting the South Texas Crusade at the Alamodome. 

He was also known for his inspirational messages that aired on San Antonio television stations.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Steve is a veteran of radio news in South Texas, having worked for commercial stations in the San Antonio area since the late 1980s.
