AUSTIN — Getting the best seats for Texas sporting events could cost more as part of a new loyalty points system. The UT Athletics Department on Tuesday announced what it calls a simplified process to determine priority for season tickets, parking, postseason games and other high-demand events.
Athletics director Steve Patterson says the new system adds value to all season ticket and Longhorn Foundation members. The 2015 football season ticket-renewal process will be the first use for loyalty points. Totals will be based on full-season ticket history, seat-related contributions and philanthropic gifts.
Renewing foundation and season-ticket members can earn points from past contributions and purchase history since 1986. That's when the Longhorn Foundation was established.
For example, five points are awarded per $100 contribution for philanthropic gifts received after Sept. 1, 2014.
