Gen. Edward Rice, who leads the Air Education and Training Command in San Antonio, has met with select members of Congress in the ongoing sex scandal at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.

Rice said unprofessional relationships at basic military training will not be tolerated.

Rice promised to establish and maintain an environment that he says is consistent with the high standards of professional conduct that the Air Force demands of instructors.

He said the investigation into the sex scandal, which has taken about 20,000 man-hours to complete, will help guide the Air Force in developing the best solutions to address the problems. It included a survey to more than 18,000 trainees, students, military training instructors, military training leaders, and technical training instructors.

Officials say the survey was built specifically for the investigation. They say it provided a real-time measurement of the training environment and culture at basic training.

Rice says he will announce detailed actions for the road ahead after he briefs Air Force leadership in late October.
