Proyecto Broadsides brings together the work of diverse poets with San Antonio visual artists to create unique broadsides that present poetry to audiences in an unusual form. Six of the participating poets will be reading their work at the Latino Collection & Resource Center event space, located inside Central Library on May 9, 2026. All five of the visual artists will have original work on display for a month-long exhibit. Additionally, nine broadsides, designed by Ruben Ramirez and Marilyn Garcia, will be on display and available for purchase.

Join world-renowned National Geographic Explorer and photographer Thomas Peschak for a stunning visual journey through the Amazon River Basin.

In Amazon: Andes to the Atlantic, Peschak shares breathtaking images and stories from his 396-day expedition tracing the Amazon from the glaciers of the Andes Mountains to the Atlantic Ocean. Along the way, he documented remote ecosystems, rare wildlife, and little-seen underwater worlds that reveal the Amazon’s extraordinary biodiversity.

A former marine biologist turned photographer, Peschak has spent more than two decades documenting wildlife and conservation stories for National Geographic magazine, earning 18 Wildlife Photographer of the Year awards and seven World Press Photo Awards. His Amazon project—part of the National Geographic Society and Rolex Perpetual Planet Amazon Expedition—made him only the second photographer in the magazine’s 136-year history to photograph an entire issue.

Through powerful photography and firsthand stories, this presentation offers a rare look at one of the most vital ecosystems on Earth.

Catch the Fun with River Rodeo!
A community-wide fishing challenge hosted by the San Antonio River Authority and San Antonio River Foundation in partnership with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and Fin Addict Angler Foundation. The event invites anglers tolog their catches, compete on live leaderboards, win prizes, and support real fisheries science while enjoying outdoor river adventures.

River Rodeo combines outdoor recreation with citizen science by allowing anglers to log species, size, and general location data to support fisheries research and river management. Participants can track progress on live leaderboards, compete in multiple categories, and remain eligible for prizes and raffles throughout the challenge.

On this guided bird tour around the various habitats of Mitchell Lake Audubon Center, guests will see at least 30-50 different bird species with our expert guide. Travelling by both car and by foot to access as many areas as possible, this tour is best suited for the birder age 15+ as it can last up to four hours, though you may leave at any time. Tours are limited. Bring your binoculars, bottle for water, closed-toe shoes, long pants, and bug spray.

The show opens March 22, 2026 through May 27, 2026, and presents creative pinhole portraits of San Antonio Artist immersed in their artform.

The opening exhibit of Eric O’Connell’s pinhole photography invites viewers into a living moment where time, movement, and memory converge. Through long exposures that compress minutes into a single frame, O’Connell reveals portraits that are both sharp and softly obscured, capturing not just a subject’s image but the interaction, motion, and atmosphere surrounding them.

Ghostly blurs, shifting shadows, and layered spaces create a sense of transparency and connection, allowing creativity, place, and presence to merge into one unified view. This exhibit asks audiences to slow down and consider the fleeting, often overlooked relationships between time, the artist, and the world they inhabit.

As the Edwards Aquifer Authority (EAA) celebrates 30 years of stewardship on June 28th, we invite residents, students, businesses, and organizations from Atascosa, Bexar, Caldwell, Comal, Guadalupe, Hays, Medina, and Uvalde counties to help us look to the future by showcasing how you're managing the drought. Whether you're collecting rainwater, composting, using drip irrigation, or embracing native plants—we want to see it!

Winning photos will be featured in the 2027 EAA Calendar, celebrating innovation, resilience, and the community’s shared commitment to protecting the aquifer.
