The Bugs, Bikes, & Botany: Nature Adventure Kit Program invites families to experience the Mission Reach from a whole new angle—a bug’s-eye view! Brought to you by the San Antonio River Foundation, BiblioTech and San Antonio BCycle, with support from PeopleForBikes and the Better Bike Share Partnership, this program is your ticket to a wilder side of San Antonio, where each bike ride introduces you to both our city’s unique nature and the perks of using BCycle, San Antonio’s bikeshare system.

The chorale presents the music of Andrew Lloyd Webber sung by the 60 voice community choral volunteers bringing live music to the Hill Country. The program will include music from "Jesus Christ, Superstar", "Cats", "Phantom of the Opera", and more.

The Esperanza Peace and Justice Center welcomes you to our 30th annual Día de Muertos celebration honoring our antepasados at the Rinconcito de Esperanza (816 S. Colorado, San Antonio, TX 78207).

This FREE, family-friendly celebration, features over 20 unique community altars, cempasúchiles planted by la comunidad, and the beautiful community tapete. Dance to live music, and walk with us during our procession. Bring your friends & family to enjoy and take in la cultura and rich heritage of the Westside.

Bring flowers, candles, and reprinted photos of those who you want to make offerings to this year.

Email digital photos to ofrendas@esperanzacenter.org by October 30 to be included on the community altar.

The community procession goes through the Westside from the Rinconcito to the Alázan-Apache Courts joined by the danzantes Kalpulli Ayolopaktzin. Dress up like a calaca, bring instruments, and noisemakers and join us.

MujerArtes Cooperativa de Esperanza will be holding their annual Día de Muertos Exhibit and Sale starting October 25.

Diwali SA Festival of Lights celebrates Indian culture in the heart of San Antonio.

Also known as the Festival of Lights, Diwali is one of the most important festivals in India, celebrating the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil and the human ability to overcome.

Diwali SA features immersive light displays for children and adults. Throughout the day, there are performances of Indian music and dance, a River Parade of Indian States, displays of Indian art, and vendors selling food, jewelry, and handicrafts. A huge fireworks display concludes the evening.

La Vida de los Muertos brings to life the traditions and stories of Día de los Muertos. The performance features characters who explain the significance of honoring our loved ones who have passed, blending folkloric dance and mariachi music in a powerful tribute. Bring a lawn chair and a photo for the Community Altar and let’s celebrate life and legacy together under the stars! This free dance and music production is presented by the Guadalupe Dance Academy and Mariachi Academy.

The Annual Dia De Los Muertos Fireworks Festival - presented by Planet K & The Phogg Phoundation for the Pursuit of Happiness at Wood lawn Lake Park, 12 pm - 9:00 pm
This is a free, family/pet friendly event that commemorates the Day of the Dead and brings the San Antonio community together to rejoice in the lives of loved ones passed.
This event features numerous local artists and craft vendors selling themed creations, a special alter, a build your own skull station for kids, face painting booths, family photo booths, memorial balloon release and a classic car show. The evening will culminate with a spectacular 20-minute display of pyrotechnic fireworks that are set to go off at 8:15 pm. Wear your best Day of the Dead makeup and costumes and come ready to celebrate with us!

Full STEAM Ahead: Hands-On Education
Families and visitors are also invited to learn about the American West in the Briscoe’s monthly education series, “Full STEAM Ahead” during Locals Day. Work together and engage in hands-on, STEAM – Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics- learning experiences. The education program features hands-on activities and workshops all ages will enjoy every first Sunday of the month during Locals Day, 1 – 3 PM.

The San Antonio Art League + Museum (SAAL+M) proudly announces acclaimed fiber artist Susie Monday as its 2025 Artist of the Year, honoring her visionary work and lifelong contributions to the arts. This prestigious award, established in 1946, celebrates excellence across all artistic disciplines and this year shines a much-deserved spotlight on the expressive power of fiber art.
Selected by a distinguished panel of national and international jurors, Monday’s recognition marks a milestone for both the artist and the regional fiber arts community. Her work—rich with color, symbolism, and cultural storytelling—has captivated audiences and elevated textile collage and surface design to new artistic heights.

O’ Powa O’ Meng—”I came here, I got here, I’m still going”— is how Jody Folwell describes, in her Tewa language, her personal journey with pottery. A contemporary artist from Kha’p’o Owingeh (also known as Santa Clara Pueblo, in New Mexico), she is among the most significant and influential clay artists of her generation. Across five decades of artistic practice, Folwell has revolutionized contemporary Pueblo pottery with energetic, avant-garde innovations of form, content, and design that have influenced younger generations of Pueblo potters. This exhibition presents iconic works that demonstrate the arc of Folwell’s trailblazing career and place her within the canon of contemporary American art.

"O’ Powa O’ Meng: The Art and Legacy of Jody Folwell" is organized by the Fralin Museum of Art and the Minneapolis Institute of Art. Major support for the national tour and exhibition catalogue is provided by the Terra Foundation for American Art. Curator-in-charge at the McNay Art Museum is Lauren Thompson, Curator of Exhibitions.
