Closing Reception for "Printmaking from San Antonio and Beyond"
“Printmaking from San Antonio and Beyond,” a compelling exhibition of fine art prints highlighting the diverse voices and innovative techniques of contemporary printmakers, closes with a reception from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, July 12 at Bihl Haus Arts Gallery, 2803 Fredericksburg Road.
Featuring works from both emerging and established artists, “Printmaking from San Antonio and Beyond” explores how printmaking continues to evolve as a dynamic medium for expression in the 21st century. From intricate etchings and bold screenprints to experimental mixed media works, the exhibition showcases the breadth of approaches that define the contemporary printmaking landscape.
Artists include:
- Luis Jimenez with two lithographs: "Border Crossing" and "Slave Market"
- Ron Adams with "Endangered Species II"
- Margaret Craig with mixed media prints: "Flowers and Rocks at Rivers Edge" and "Found Here, Plastic Bottle Broken Pipe, Fungus". She was Artist of the Year at the San Antonio Art League last year.
- Chaz Boroquez with two serigraphs: "SALA (San Antonio exchange with Las Angeles) and "Got Green Card"
- Meredith Dean with two monotypes: "Transcend" and "Reach"
- Steve Prince with two amazing linocuts: "Guard My Heart" and "Hallelujah Anyhow"
“This exhibition reflects the energy and creativity driving today’s print artists,” says Kathleen Baker Pittman, curator of the show. “Printmaking has always been rooted in tradition, but the artists featured here are pushing the boundaries of what prints can be – technically, conceptually and materially.”
