Alonso S. Perales: Civil Rights Trailblazer Traveling Exhibit Opening
Join us on Saturday, June 29, 2024, for the opening of Alonso S. Perales: Civil Rights Trailblazer, MACRI's inaugural traveling exhibit.
This exhibit explores the life and legacy of Alonso S. Perales (1898-1960), a civil rights activist, public intellectual, and US diplomat. It draws from Dr. Cynthia E. Orozco's recently published biography of Perales, his first comprehensive biography, to introduce Perales to a new generation.

Dr. Cynthia E. Orozco, the author of Pioneer of Mexican-American Civil Rights: Alonso S. Perales, the basis of MACRI's exhibit, will be joined by Dr. Gabriela Baeza Ventura, Deputy Director of Arte Público Press, for a presentation on Perales. Refreshments will be served.

Be one of the first to see MACRI's traveling exhibit on Alonso S. Perales, including artifacts from Perales family members and Arte Público Press.
The exhibit will remain on display at the MACRI Visitor Center through Saturday, October 19, 2024. Viewing hours are Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM, or by appointment.
