Texas is continuing to produce big numbers in crude oil and natural gas production. The Eagle Ford Shale and West Texas Permian Basin are out producing the high expectations of industry experts.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration released new U.S. crude oil production data for the month of May and Texas, the country's number one oil-producing state, continues to produce energy at a pace that experts are marveling at.
Texas produced an average of 2.5 million barrels of crude oil per day in May, which is the highest average daily output in the state in any month since April 1982.
Compared to last year, oil output in Texas increased by almost 31 percent in May, posting the 20th straight increase starting in October 2011 that the state’s oil output has increased by more than 30 percent on a year-over-year basis.
Oil production in Texas has more than doubled in the last 27 months.
Industry experts said this has to be one of the most significant increases in oil output ever recorded in domestic energy production history.
This oil production explosion would have never been possible without the use of the modern drilling techniques of hydro-fracturing also known as fracking.
Oil output has increased so significantly in Texas that if it was considered as a separate oil-producing country, Texas would rank 11th in the world, only slightly behind Mexico at number ten.
