France's Hottest String Quartet On Tour And En Route To San Antonio

Julien Mignot

Sunday afternoon marks the season finale of the San Antonio Chamber Music Society for 2012-13. The concert at Temple Beth-El features the hottest French group in chamber music, QuatourEbene. They have been heralded by critics far and wide as the gold standard in music making.

Cellist Raphael Merlin took some time before the quartet left Paris to talk with TPR's John Clare about touring, their new Mendelssohn album, and switching violinists. Hear the interview in the audio player above.

John Clare is comfortable behind a microphone, streaming video or playing violin. A former broadcaster for NPR, John has previously worked with Voice of America, the Canadian Broadcast Corporation and stations in Kansas, Nevada, California, and Pennsylvania.
