Emergency Closure I-35 At San Marcos, Lanes Now Open

TexDot

Update

At 8:50 p.m. Central time Friday,  TxDot's Facebook page stated that all lanes of the I-35 in San Marcos were open, but some delays remained.

Here's the earlier story.

In what will not be happy news for Memorial Day weekend travelers looking to get out early this evening, Texas Department Of Transportation officials have stated that I-35 north of San Marcos could be closed until 7 p.m. today (Friday), May 22.

The closure of the north and southbound main lanes of I-35 at the Blanco River in San Marcos began at 3:00 p.m. for emergency repairs.

A post on TxDOT’s Facebook page stated that crews had to fix a falling sign because it posed a danger for drivers. Traffic will detour to the access roads at Exit 208, and proceed to the next entrance ramp.

Lane closures will start about two miles in advance in both directions. Drivers could experience significant delays, especially given that it is a long holiday weekend.
